What to expect from this 8 day Tanzania Adventure:

The open horizons and abundant wildlife found in Mikumi National Park in Tanzania draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains. Zebra, wildebeest, impala and buffalo herds migrate across Mikumi and resident predators follow on close behind.

Days 1 - 3: Mikumi National Park, Tanzania

Depart from Dar es Salaam domestic terminal at 10:30 for Mikumi National Park. On arrival transport will be waiting to take you to Foxes Safari Camp for lunch. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive on your Tanzania safar.

Mikumi National Park is the fourth largest park in Tanzania and is located between the Uluguru Mountains and the Lumango range. Mikumi National Park has a wide variety of wildlife that is easy to spot and well acclimatised to game viewing. Its proximity to Dar es Salaam and the amount of wildlife living in the Park, makes Mikumi National Park a popular option for weekend visitors or visitors who don't have long to spend on an extended Tanzania safari itinerary.

Foxes Safari Camp is a small, personalised camp in Mikumi, set up on a rocky kopje on the Mkata flood plain, it presides over the best game viewing area of the park, the Mwanamboga waterhole. Eight custom designed tents are raised on wooden platforms around a rock kopje and each tent overlooks the floodplain.

Spend your days on game drives, accompanied by highly experienced rangers, exploring the open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain, Kisingura Circuit, Hippo Pools and Vuma Hill. Lions, giraffe, zebra, impala and huge buffalo herds live on the open grass plains and in addition to the wonderful array of animals, over 300 species of birds have been recorded in the park.

Days 4 - 7: Ruaha National Park, Tanzania

A morning game drive with picnic lunch will take you to the airstrip for the flight to Ruaha National Park on your Tanzania vacation. On arrival at Ruaha River Lodge you will have time to unpack before you depart on your afternoon game drive.

Ruaha River Lodge, situated in the Ruaha National Park, has stunning views of the Great Ruaha River. Accommodation comprises of twenty individual bandas, built from natural stone and each room has screened windows, ensuite bathrooms and private verandas.

You will experience morning and evening game drives on your Tanzania safari, lead by highly trained English speaking guides. You can also choose to enjoy a full day game drive with picnic lunch. Ruaha River Lodge offers you the opportunity to take a guided walk along the Ruaha River, a unique and exciting experience for anyone wanting to see, feel, hear and taste the African bush.

As Ruaha National Park is remote, the park is largely unexplored. For the intrepid wilderness lover and the avid safari explorer, a trip to Ruaha has the feel of a private adventure. Ruaha National Park boasts with herds of more than 10 000 elephants, vast concentrations of buffalo, gazelle, and over 400 bird species.

Days 8: Flight to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

After a full morning game drive on your Tanzania safari, ending at the airstrip (picnic lunch provided) you will depart at 13:45 to fly back to Dar es Salaam arriving late afternoon.
