What to expect from this 3 day Ngorongoro Crater Sojourn:

This 4WD safari with your own private guide combines an authentic cultural experience with a great wildlife Tanzania safari. From Arusha you will travel to Ngorongoro Crater and spend two nights at the Lemala Luxury Ngorongoro Camp. Lemala Ngorongoro Camp is an intimate seasonal camp on the rim of the crater offering luxury Tanzania vacation accommodation under canvas in large spacious tents.

Lemala Ngorongoro lies within a wild indigenous forest which is home to a wide variety of game from elephant, buffalo and bushbuck. Enjoy spectacular and exciting game viewing in the crater as well as interaction with the local Maasai. You can also enjoy optional nature walks near the camp or around Ol Moti or Empakaai Crater which are not too far from the camp.

Day 1: Arusha - Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

Today you will be meet your Tanzania safari guide and drive by 4x4 safari vehicle to the Ngorongoro Crater from Arusha. You will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch and in the afternoon enjoy a game drive in the beautiful Ngorongoro Crater - one of Africa's greatest wildlife sanctuaries.

The nine luxury tents at Lemala Ngorongoro Camp are heated and feature large single or king-size beds with warm duvets, wooden flooring with rugs, and en-suite bathrooms with dressing area, flush toilet and safari shower.

The mess area is beautifully furnished with grand sofas, lamps, book and corner cabinets in old wood, chandeliers, chests and rugs. Meals are served al fresco or inside the mess and all guests are invited to sit together with the naturalist at dinner time.

Day 2 : Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania

Lemala's advantage over the majority of camps at the Crater, is its proximity to the low-traffic Lemala entry route into the crater. You are able to start you game drive early and thus avoid the traffic jams and queues. Today enjoy breakfast and leave with picnic lunch for a whole day crater tour.

Travel around the crater which is a home for the great concentration of wild game. Alternatively you can visit the Empakaai Crater today. A much smaller crater than Ngorongoro Crater, but endearing in its own way, Empakaai has a deep soda lake which covers about half of the 6km wide caldera.

You'll often find thousands of flamingos in the shallows of the emerald lake - giving it a spectacular pink tinge. You will drive up to the outer rims of the crater, before taking a 45-minute walk down the path through stunning forested slopes to the crater floor. Return to Lemala Camp for a hot shower, delicious dinner and drinks on your Tanzania vacation.

Day 3 : Return to Arusha, Tanzania

Enjoy a breakfast tour of a local Maasai village and then drive back to Arusha, arriving around 1pm.
