Days 1 - 3: Selous Game Reserve – Sand Rivers Selous

You will fly into the Selous Game Reserve, where you will land at Kiba airstrip. A short safari drive and you will arrive at Sand Rivers Selous. (There are numerous daily flights to Kiba airstrip from Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Ruaha, Mafia, Pemba, and northern Tanzania) Sand Rivers Selous has a very romantic setting right on the Rufiji River and a level of personal service that will make your trip feel very special.

You will stay in The Rhino House: The new one-bedroom honeymoon cottage. It has a large bedroom, en-suite bathroom, lounge and open dining area for private meals. The bedroom is very romantic and has a wide open front looking down over the river and woodlands.

It’s the perfect Tanzania honeymoon hideaway; meals are served in your own dining area, and you have your own small pool for an afternoon of chilling out, with the fully stocked bar close by. You will also have your own 4WD vehicle and private guide to take you out on your own game drives as and when you wish.

The Selous Game Reserve covers 52,000 square kilometres of pristine wilderness and supports a wide variety of wildlife including elephant, lion, leopard, hippo, buffalo, giraffe, crocodile and many antelope and bird species.

The Rufiji River flows through the park and the terrain varies from riverine forest and alluvial flood plains with oxbow lagoons, to Mopane forest.Sand Rivers Selous Camp boasts some of Tanzania’s best safari guides and they will accompany you on Tanzania safari adventures whether it is boating on the Rufiji River, driving in a 4WD safari vehicle in search of lion, elephant or wild dog, or a Tanzania safari bush walk.

Days 4 - 7: Selous Game Reserve – Beho Beho

After your morning Tanzania safari activity, you will depart for the airstrip for your flight to Beho Beho. Once you arrive at the Beho Beho airstrip there is a short drive to the camp. Beho Beho's site was used for a safari camp as early as 1972; one of the first such sites in the Selous. It has a unique location in the park, sitting high on a hill in an area dotted with baobabs. It is the only camp within Selous Game Reserve which is set away from the river – in an area with plenty of game and birdlife as well as very few other visitors.

Tanzania honeymoon accommodation at Beho Beho consists of eight open-fronted guest bandas built of local stone and palm leaf thatch, with ensuite facilities including an open-air shower. Each spacious cottage has a lounge area and private veranda with magnificent views over the woodland, open glades and gorges below. The huge rooms at Beho Beho, romantic canopied double beds, and the sheer comfort of the camp make Beho Beho popular with honeymooners.

Beho Beho's activities include 4x4 safari drives, boat trips on Lake Tagalala, and guided walking safaris. Close to the lodge are some historical sites – which include World War I trenches where you can still find scattered artifacts and the grave of Frederick Courtney Selous - after whom the park is named, and who was killed in action here.

Days 8: Return Flight

After a full morning game activity, you will depart for the Beho Beho airstrip for your return journey to Dar es Salaam or other departure point on your Tanzania honeymoon itinerary.
