Gibb's Farm was built by German settlers in 1929 and the guesthouses were built in 1972, making Gibbs Farm the first guesthouse in Northern Tanzania. The farmhouse retains a colonial feel and has a homely dining room where you can enjoy home-cooked, farm grown meals.
There are many cosy corners with comfortable sofas and chairs for just relaxing in. Paved stone paths wind their way through the farm which is spread out over more than 15 acres of land. There are extensive coffee fields, a dairy, a pig farm and 10 acre fruit, vegetable and herb gardens – all of which surround the farmhouse and guest cottages. It is possible for you to explore these with or without a guide.
The view from this Tanzania lodge has been compared to the ‘Napa Valley of California’. Rows of cultivated coffee bushes adorn the East African valley and combined with the terraced flower gardens, ancient trees and a grassy knoll, you can enjoy a memorable sunset every evening from the patio of Gibbs Farm.
