The Mahale Mountains in Western Tanzania are the ultimate location for a chimpanzee safari. Mahale National Park is home to a large group of chimps habituated and studied since the 1960s. Mahale is also one of the most remote and scenically breathtaking areas in Tanzania with mountains, forest and the crystal clear water of Lake Tanganyika.
Lake Tanganyika is the world's longest, second-deepest and least polluted fresh water lake - with an estimated 1,000 fish species. Swim, snorkel and fish in the lake, whilst staying at Kungwe Beach Lodge.
This Tanzania lodge is on the edge of Lake Tanganyika and has ten walk-in tents with thatched roofs on raised wooden platforms, set back on the edge of the forest on the beach. The camp operates on solar power and lamps, so there is no noise disturbance from generators.
Children:
Kungwe Beach Lodge welcomes children, but they must share a tent with adults. There are no child-care or babysitting facilities available, children are the full responsibility of the parents at all times.
